Director of Organizing, Black Lives Matter Global Network
Nikita Mitchell has over eight years of experience in community organizing, union organizing, and popular education development. She currently serves as the director of organizing for Black Lives Matter Global Network (BLM), which organizes to end state sanctioned violence against black people by engaging in harming mitigation tactics and modeling power. As the director of organizing, Mitchell bottom-lines the leadership development of BLM’s membership and overall strategy for the organization. Prior to her current position, Mitchell was the trainer and technical assistance specialist for the Praxis Project, where she led strategic planning and leadership development processes for Bay Area non-profits. Before that, she was the student engagement specialist for Oakland Unified School district where she led organizing strategy among youth around participatory budgeting.
